Total Immersion Cycling Spring Classics trip
From Phil Van Valkenberg:
When it's minus 22F in Wisconsin it's hard to believe the Eurozone cycling season is nearly here. But, I've got some great news about my Total Immersion Cycling trips to the Spring Classics and Tour de France. The locations are the same as in the past which is great, but even better I've been able to keep the costs down despite the weak dollar.
For the Spring Classics trip I've got the house in Cobrieux, near Roubaix in France Nord, where we've stayed before and a B&B in an ancient abbey near Compiegne, the start venue for Paris-Roubaix. The dates are depart US on Friday, April 5, arrive Saturday the 6th and depart France on Monday the 14th arriving in the US on the same day. I can arrange days in Paris at the end if you would like. I can take up to six people on this trip. I'll be joined again by Jay "Hollywood" Henderson and, for Paris-Roubaix by Audrey Ferraro who will have leave from the French Army.
We will see Tour of Flanders on the Kappelmur on Sunday the 7th, Ghent-Wevelgem at the start and on the Kemmelberg on Wednesday the 9th, and the Queen of the Classics, Paris-Roubaix on Sunday the 13th. Message me back and I'll send all the day-to-day details of the program. There will be plenty of opportunities for cycling and cultural attractions.
The cost will be $1,270 per person with a deposit of $635 due on booking and the balance due March 5. I have a Belgian bank account so I can send deposit
money there so any currency fluctuation before the trip is negated. Here's the really great news. I've found a killer airfare out of Chicago O'Hare. You can book those dates round trip to Paris on British Airways for $471 (plus $152 in taxes). That compares with fares around $1,200 I'm seeing on other carriers.
